Focusing on the improvement of curtain wall quality • Simon Aluminum Industry visits East China Architectural Design Institute to hold an exchange event on PVF coated metal panels.
On November 24, 2023, on an autumn afternoon, with the facilitation of both parties' partners, Dr. DuPont, the general manager, design director, and sales manager of Shanghai Simon Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. visited the East China Institute located in the Expo Riverside Building to introduce high-performance PVF coated metal panels to the design newcomers.
As the process of urbanization accelerates, iconic buildings infused with the designers' efforts rise up, shining brightly. However, over time, in just a few years, the surfaces of buildings using metal panel curtain walls may become dirty and difficult to clean, affecting their aesthetics. Moreover, buildings using ordinary fluorocarbon metal panels have a lifespan of no more than 20 years, making it difficult for designers to realize their wish for their buildings to become centennial structures.
To address the above issues, Shanghai Simon Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. and DuPont jointly developed the Teller® PVF coated metal panel product. It is not only stain-resistant, easy to clean, and highly stable, but it can also effectively protect building surfaces for over 50 years.
During the event, Dr. DuPont introduced the characteristics of PVF to the designers:
PVF fluorocarbon coated metal panels are a cost-effective curtain wall product, with durability, color retention, and ease of cleaning superior to PVDF fluorocarbon metal panels. PVDF fluorocarbon coatings contain 30% acrylic and other plasticizers, which can easily powder and flake off when exposed to ultraviolet light for long periods, making them brittle and less resistant to bending. Plasticizers also have a certain adhesive property, making them easy to stain and difficult to clean.
In contrast, PVF contains no plasticizers and is made of 100% fluororesin, offering superior weather resistance, salt spray resistance, ease of cleaning, and chemical resistance, maintaining stability even in various harsh environments.
Simon Aluminum demonstrated PVF-related test reports and actual cases to the designers, further confirming the durability of the PVF coating.
The designers also inquired about the product's features and application scope, to which the general manager of Simon Aluminum provided detailed answers, expressing that viewing their product is like viewing their child. The PVF coated metal panel not only has high stability and durability but also brings tangible benefits to investors. On one hand, it saves maintenance and cleaning costs, and on the other hand, it reduces the frequency of renovations.
Simon Aluminum hopes that such a good product can allow the designers' inspirations to be appreciated by the world for a longer time, and to create clean and beautiful cities.
